Edwardsburg Public Schools has a rigorous, transparent, and fair performance evaluation system in place that:
- Evaluates teachers and school administrators at least annually with multiple direct observations;
- Incorporates student growth measures as a significant portion of evaluation based on student growth and assessment data, and provides teachers and administrators with relevant data;
- Uses research-based measures to determine student growth;
- Uses multiple rating categories (highly effective, effective, minimally effective, and ineffective) that take into account data on student growth as a significant factor;
- Uses the evaluations, at a minimum, to inform decisions regarding all of the following:
- The effectiveness of teachers and administrators,
- Promotion, retention, and development of teachers and school administrators,
- Granting of tenure or full certification, or both,
- Removing ineffective tenured and untenured teachers and administrators, and
- Evaluation results are used to inform ongoing job-embedded professional development
