| Classrooms travel to area businesses and events, to experience learning in a real life setting. The following trips have been a part of the curriculum this year: Edwardsburg Museum, Edwardsburg Post Office, Edwardsburg Public Library, Martins Supermarket (Granger, IN), Fernwood Nature Center (Niles, MI), Curious Kids Museum (St. Joesph, MI), HealthWorks Museum (South Bend, IN), Potawatomi Zoo (South Bend, IN), South Bend Chocolate Factory, Morris Civic Auditorium, Nutcracker Ballet, (South Bend, IN), Northern Indiana Center for Natural History (South Bend, IN), Stovers Fruit Farm (Berrien Springs, MI), Lawless Park (Cassopolis, MI), and Wicks Apple Farm (Dowagiac, MI). |

| Jump-A-Thon |
| This is a yearly event that is sponsored by the American Heart Association. The Physical Education Teacher coordinates this event to promote good physical health. Children secure pledges for jumping rope at a K-5 event. |

| End of Year Picnics |
| Classes celebrate the end of the year with outdoor activities and a picnic. |

| Foreign Language Buddies |
| High School Foreign Language students buddy with elementary children to expose children to the Spanish, German and French language through fun, interactive activities. |

| Reading Incentive Programs |
| The Primary School introduces children to the Accelerated Reading Program whereby students read a book and test their comprehension of the story on the computer. Children earn ribbons when they meet their goals. They are also rewarded with a reading celebration which includes special performances and refreshments. |

| March Reading Month |
| Teachers and the Media Specialist plan activities to involve children in literacy and expose children to good literature. Celebrity Readers are invited to read to the children. |

| Character Education using the Life Skills |
| Students utilize a character building program that focuses on character skills such as Trustworthiness, Citizenship, Responsibility, Respect, Fairness and Caring. Each of these life skills are reinforced with Character Counts Certificates and monthly assemblies to recognize students' achievements. |

| Community Service Project |
| The children collect grocery items during Make a Difference Week to donate to the Edwardsburg Community Pantry which are distributed to needy families. |

| Music Programs |
| Each grade level performs a musical or play. The Kindergarten classes presented Peter Rabbit, the Multiage classes presented Its A Jungle Out There and the First Grade classes presented The Beetles Coat. The Transitional Kindergarten/First Grade Classrooms presented the play One Big Happy Family. |

| Open Houses |
| In September we welcome families in to the Primary School to showcase classrooms and student work. Teachers introduce classroom procedures, schedules and information about curriculum. |

| Spirit Days |
| The Football Homecoming is a community event and the Primary children show their pride for Edwardsburg by wearing orange and blue. The High School Band, football players and cheerleaders visit to conduct a pep assembly for the students. The children sit on the grassy banks in front of the Primary to watch the parade of floats and students representing various groups from the High School. Children also have designated days to show their pride in Edwardsburg. |
