Student Support

Edwardsburg Intermediate School offers a variety of programs which allow students to investigate and develop special talents and interests. The core curriculum is enhanced through enrichment activities which occur within and outside the classroom setting.


After School Tutoring
After school tutoring is offered to help students who are at risk of not passing the core curriculum in the areas of Reading, Mathematics, and Writing.

TAT Meetings
Teacher Assistance Team meetings provide educational support and ideas for teachers who may have students experiencing difficulties.

Peer Mediation
Students are trained as mediators to help resolve issues of dispute between their peers. The desired outcome is to enhance peer relationships and develop life-long conflict resolution skills.

Group Counseling Services
Group counseling services including School Success, Children of Divorce, Study Skills, Anger Management and Esteem Team are offered.

Pen Pal Orientation
Intermediate students interact through written correspondence with students enrolled at Eagle Lake and Middle School, which serve as mentors during a year-end orientation day, which allows students an opportunity to familiarize themselves with their new school.

Enrichment & Literacy Groups
A Reading Specialist meets with Enrichment Groups once a week to work on advanced writing skills with students who score high in Language Arts on the NWEA Test.

Title I Aides and the Reading Specialist also provide small group reading instruction to students through Liteacy Groups.

Student Council
Two student representatives are selected from each classroom by their peers to serve as members of the Student Council, which sponsors various student activities throughout the school year.
