Accreditation/Building Goals
N.C.A Target Area Goals
- All students will improve their expository (informational) reading in all content areas.
- All students will show improvement in their written expression across the curriculum.
- All students will improve their ability to apply problem solving skills across the curriculum.
The Edwardsburg Public Schools shall provide the best and most comprehensive education possible for each student within the limits of the resources of the district.
The school shall share with the parents responsibility for the development of appropriate moral, ethical, and social values in the students as well as the responsibility for developing aesthetic values and appreciation.
To meet these challenges, the school shall share with the community the responsibility to plan, initiate, and provide programs and experiences so that individual pupils will develop the skills necessary to accomplish their best and fulfill their potential.
The school will provide students programs that will encourage them to:
- communicate, orally and in writing.
- develop maximum academic proficiency through proper application of basic skills.
- develop wise, productive and enjoyable use and appreciation of leisure time.
- develop appreciation of the arts.
- develop physical, mental and emotional health.
- produce a feeling of dignity and self-worth and an attitude of pride of accomplishment in a job well done.
- develop and apply clear, logical thinking and good judgment.
- acquire a zeal for continuous learning and self-improvement.
- develop a social responsibility for our environment and its preservation.
- develop attitudes of tolerance, respect and understanding of others' rights, opinion and property.
Edwardsburg High School was awarded Outcomes Accreditation Status in March of 1994 by North Central Association of Colleges and Schools Accrediting Agency. Edwardsburg High School will continue in OA by assessing student performance, developing an improvement plan, and documenting student success.
- School Facilities and Support - The maintenance and condition of the building are outstanding and able to support the educational programs. Community financial support has been sound for the past five years with spending per pupil and assessed millage adequate.
- Curriculum and Student Success - The development of curriculum is well planned, including shared time programs to meet needs of students. Programs are well coordinated and updated, including a plan to integrate technology into the classrooms. Academic curriculum and vocational programs are strong. Students have strong career and educational guidance, resulting in 86% of the graduating class pursuing post-secondary education.
- Staff - The staff and administration have been commended for their excellent relationship with the community, concern for students and school improvement activities. Their efforts are reflected by the positive, friendly and caring learning atmosphere and by student opinion that they are receiving a quality education.
