Curriculum

The curriculum is designed to help your student:

At each grade level, the skills, processes and content have been aligned to meet the high standards established at the national and state levels for each discipline area. School activities, classroom projects, homework, classroom work, special assignments, assigned reading and writing projects are planned to assure your child's continued educational development. The work your child competes should reflect progress toward achievement of skills, processes and content.

Academic Enhancements


Reading Renaissance
The Reading Renaissance program is part of our reading program that has students practice reading both in school and at home. Students challenge themselves to read well and to become well read.

Math-A-Rama
Fifteen students from each grade level participate in a day full of mathematical challenges involving calculators, problem solving, estimation, geometry and a scavenger hunt. This county-wide event takes place at Southwestern Michigan College in Dowagiac, Michigan.

Science Olympiad
Students throughout Cass County travel to Southwestern Michigan College in Dowagiac, Michigan to compete in various hands-on Science activities.

Spelling Bee
Twenty-Five third grade students participate in an in house spelling bee. This will prepare them for next year as well as finding the third grade Spelling Bee champion.

Young Writers' Day
Students spend a day at Southwestern Michigan College in Dowagiac, Michigan attending workshops and interacting with illustrators, writers and storytellers.
